Many have attempted to decipher the meaning of the lyrics to Stairway to Heaven for its popularity has been explosive since the seventies.  It’s reported that the writer “zoned out” when he wrote them. 

Mr. Plant admitted when he sang Stairway to Heaven, he needed cue cards to help him remember the order of the lyrics.  Mmmm, makes me wonder, does Mr. Plant know the deeper meanings of these lyrics? 

He reportedly said at one point, it was so abstract that he wouldn’t want to write anything like it again, with no hint of who this lady is or who he might be referring to.  Yet, this is how the Divine works in the world, moving through music and movies.  Not every creative endeavor is Divine, and some should have never been created at all.

The Golden Age of Hollywood is the most spiritual, giving humanity a glimpse into the heavenly realms of what God wants for His world, which is far removed from where it is.

Mr. Plant and Mr. Page were able to tap into the Divine and bring a message to the world that has never been brought before, though they were not consciously aware of it. 

The lyrics begin with despair and end with hope, and it’s apparent to me that this song is a reflection of a larger Creative Mind at work in fulfilling this Lady’s vision for the world, hence this author’s interpretation may be the most accurate.

There’s a lady who’s sure all that glitters is gold

Most read this and think of a rich girl who is materialistic and wants the finer things in life.  This line is really about a lady who’s sure that all of her experiences in life will be valuable one day. From her depths, she was led into dark situations, even fearing for her life, which would become gold for future sadhus. 

The gold she gives is the fastest and safest route to Heaven which is what every created being should strive for. The glitter is the inner wisdom in her poor choices, and the gold is what she can bring to the world because of it.

And she’s buying a stairway to heaven.

At the time this song was recorded, this lady was little yet and didn’t know she was buying anything.  It was in perfect timing with her birth.  Listening to it through the seventies didn’t have much impact but that changed a few years ago. 

The stairway is a new spiritual movement with the Divine Mother overseeing the spiritual path of Her creation.  It’s a stairway that was bought at a very steep price.  Through Her suffering, those on this path would know that She’s walked in their shoes and understands their struggles and misfortune.

When she gets there she knows, if the stores all are closed

The stores, here, represent the religions.  People tend to shop around for what matches their own belief system.  Some change denominations and some convert to other religions. Outside of Hinduism, none of the religions acknowledge the Divine Feminine.

With a word she can get what she came for.

“With a word,” means this website and spiritual discourse.  Her motive or what she hopes for is friends and like-minded individuals who can envision the same.

There’s a sign on the wall but she wants to be sure

In 2017, the sign on the wall was watching the video of Ann Wilson singing this at the Kennedy Center.  Inwardly, she is such a beautiful person and the power of the choir behind her was magnificent. Still, there was a lot of hesitation.

Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings.

Is this author seeing a different purpose for this song, than what Heaven intended?  She needed to investigate it further before writing about it.

In a tree by the brook, there’s a songbird who sings,

This describes the last three years of feeling secure and safe, finally, even though the violence was over a long time ago.

Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven.

There’s a lot of apprehension about stepping out of this comfort zone.  What if she loses her tree by the brook? What if the songbird stops singing and flies away?  The world’s already torn this from her once. 

Can she handle the likelihood of ridicule or the possibility of fierce opposition? Ooh, it makes me wonder.

There’s a feeling I get when I look to the west, and my spirit is crying for leaving.

The west is descriptive of Christianity and my longing is for those searching for truth to steer clear of it.  It will slow down a spiritual student’s progress. 

If Heaven is the goal, it won’t be found in fundamental Christianity.  There is no such thing as instant purification through Christ. 

God can’t transform spirit into something it’s not, any more than He can change a sapling into a mighty oak. It’s a fairy tale.  The only way to be born again as the Christians speak of is through what the east calls samadhi, which is self-purification. 

That can be obtained but not this instant purification, which sounds too close to instant gratification to be real. It’s an ego feed that a serious student should run from.

In my thoughts, I have seen rings of smoke through the trees,

These are my thoughts, if I did have an audience, it might create a little bit of smoke and maybe even stir up the Christians a bit. 

I read a pastor said on television that this song contained backmasking for satanic worship, which is nonsense.  This is a person whose mind is deeply entrenched in superstition. 

Next, they’ll be calling me the Great Whore of Babylon.  I’ve been called worse, I think, though I’m not sure if that was before or after I was spat on.

And the voices of those who stand looking.

In my thoughts, too, are visions of those who might speak amongst themselves and read more of my spiritual discourse.  These would be those individuals who would take me seriously.  Ooh, it really makes me wonder.

And it’s whispered that soon, if we all call the tune, then the piper will lead us to reason.

Krishna is called the piper in Hindu poetry but in this instance, the piper is the Female Incarnation of God.  Heaven and the angels are aware that this Incarnation would be an important one for the sadhus, bringing new truths and life to their sadhana. 

“It’s whispered” is less than a whisper to those on Earth as few are advanced enough to see it.

And a new day will dawn for those who stand long,

In the present, this line points to the Judgment recorded in Revelation.  “And a new day will dawn,” is the beginning of a new era, and “those who stand long”, are those left behind to witness it.  It also represents those born in this new era. 

These are God’s meek or chosen ones, who will help the world renew itself, for God doesn’t want life on earth to end.  It’s hardly begun.

And the forests will echo with laughter.

There will be a time of peace after Judgment as the violent newer souls have been removed and I think of children laughing and playing in safety, without evil thugs lurking behind the trees.

If there’s a bustle in your hedge grove, don’t be alarmed now, it’s just a spring clean for the May queen.

It’s fitting that this website would first go up in the spring.  The “spring clean” is the removal of misconceptions in religion about God.  He doesn’t have an ego and His will isn’t controlled by one.  This is humanity’s plight that’s caused all these fallacies in religion, to begin with. 

In previous Incarnations, if God said it was one life and then Heaven, it was because He knew those who followed would at least, try to be good. This is the Divine Father’s wisdom. 

Does that create a bustle in your hedge grove?  Don’t be alarmed now.  Heaven isn’t and was always aware of a future time when higher truths would be brought forth into the world.

Yes, there are two paths you can go by but in the long run, there’s still time to change the road you’re on.

The two paths depicted here are the east and the west.  The east believes in rebirth and the west does not. 

God doesn’t care about what one believes as far as rebirth.  In other words, one can’t change reality by believing there isn’t.  To believe in only one life is only a belief. 

The reality is that He continues to put the same souls in future bodies. However, it can prolong one’s path to Heaven.  It feeds the ego to get everything now, by only thinking of one life.

It’s already a challenging road trip with many struggles along the way and this is one “pothole” that can be avoided. That’s the meaning of “there’s still time to change the road you’re on.” Might there be those who see the truths in my word?  And it really makes me wonder.

Your head is humming, and it won’t go, in case you don’t know, the piper’s calling you to join him.

In this case, the piper is Krishna or the Creator calling to His Female Portion to step forward.  “Her head is humming, and it won’t go,” is the continual push within. 

In reality, there are many solar systems, and each with an earth that has life.  Within each earth, are the Divine Father and Mother, to support humanity in their quest for Heaven. 

It is better to think of God as Father, Mother, and Holy Spirit, otherwise, God is One.  The Trinity ideology was derived somewhere in the Christian tradition but was never factual.  The Father and Son were always one and the same person as Creator, and the Holy Spirit is the energy from the Creator that actualizes in the world.

Dear lady, can you hear the wind blow, and did you know, your stairway lies on the whispering wind?

This is the acknowledgment that a movement isn’t possible without the Holy Spirit.  It is referred to here as “the whispering wind.”

As we wind on down the road, our shadows are taller than our soul

This is a glimpse into the future, and “our shadows taller than our soul,” is the legacy or impact of this movement on future generations.  How does she know this?  Because every world acknowledges her eventually.

There walks a lady we all know

Heaven recognizes the Divine Feminine and Her role in Heaven and on Earth.

Who shines white light and wants to show how everything still turns to gold.

The white light is the higher truths and though Heaven can’t be obtained in one lifetime, it can still be accomplished.  Each lifetime, a person carries their progression forward into their next birth, which is an important truth.  They should guard this progression as if it were gold.

And if you listen very hard, the tune will come to you at last.

This is the admission that many won’t see her at first.  It’s also a reminder of 1 Corinthians 13 which says, “For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.  But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part shall be done away.”  The author was acknowledging that a higher truth would come one day, and this is the beginning of that time.

The next verse perfected it when he wrote, “When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.” 

That was beautiful writing, for that’s what God wants for this world.  This verse says, let’s stop with the fairy tales and superstition and get down to the business of real sadhana.

When all are one and one is all

Eventually, after a longer period of time, the east and west will join hands.  Rebirth is the reality and when that realization is established, the spiritual seeker will have one less trap to fall into. 

There won’t be any more arguing about how one religion is more favored than the other, for God brought all of them into existence.  His reason was real from where humanity was at the time and should be honored for all time.

To be a rock and not to roll

There is no faster path than The Mother’s Way.  She brings truth and won’t deny any sadhu in his or her search for Divine wisdom.  She leads the way, the truth, and the life, for only the Mother knows the Father. By finding the Mother, one finds God.

And she’s buying the stairway to Heaven.

The stairway has been bought for the Divine Feminine purchased it through Her suffering. 

The truth and life she brings are in all of God’s teachings yet remain distorted by humanity’s inability to understand.  Look at a seedling that sprouts into a flower.  Does the growth happen in a day?  The same applies to spirit. 

Changes in spirit are not instantaneous or can be applied to a single lifetime.  Sadhana is about sincere effort and requires diligence.  Seek truth first for therein lies one’s salvation. 

The Divine Feminine is God’s voice to the world and will be forevermore.
