Abandoning God

Abandoning God, mankind leapt ahead!
“Perhaps we’ll discover before we’re dead
The way matter coheres, and all forces
In this mysterious universe of ours.”
Abandoning man, Ramakrishna leapt
Into the arms of God, His Mother dear,
And asked: “Mother, what is this you have done?”
“I will answer since you’re my only Son.
Brahman has brought the world out of Himself,
And you embody this very Brahman.”
Ramakrishna smiled, and then He uttered:
“Are you myself, or are you my Mother?”
God knows all that science will uncover:
The best He keeps hidden for His lovers.
